In 2015, Purple Light Touch Foundation was established as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the objective of providing healing touch, prayer, and mentorship to women and girls who have experienced trauma. Our mission is to "Empower, Uplift, and Transform" the lives of individuals dealing with abuse, assault, emotional distress, cancer, and other life-altering events.
What sets us apart from other organizations is that all of our services are provided free of charge. Our founder, Valerie Kelso, discovered the benefits of massage therapy in healing her own body and mind following her experiences with bullying and abuse. She wanted to share this healing modality with others, which prompted her to become a licensed massage therapist after moving to the US in 2011.
The foundation's creation stemmed from Valerie's interaction with a diverse clientele, who often opened up about their personal struggles while receiving massage therapy. She recognized that many of the women she treated carried the weight of emotional, spiritual, and physical distress, which motivated her to create a safe space where individuals could receive the support they needed to heal and overcome the chains of abuse.
Massage therapy is a powerful tool that not only alleviates physical pain but also provides emotional relief from trauma. Although physical pain may diminish over time, the emotional pain from abuse can linger and be stored in muscle tissues. Through the guidance of a trained professional, individuals can reconnect with their bodies and release long-held emotions. At Purple Light Touch Foundation, we strive to provide a nurturing environment where women and girls can receive the support and care necessary for their recovery.

A lot of the women I've worked with over the years have shared their deepest thoughts and feelings with me while receiving massages. They frequently express apprehension about being overheard while crying, which can make them feel more exposed and vulnerable, particularly in a unisex setting. I wanted to address this issue because I believe there is tremendous therapeutic value in confiding in someone else. I realized that a space was necessary where women and young girls could feel free to cry, express themselves, and release their pent-up pain. That's why the concept for Purple Light Touch Foundation was born, and it's a cause that is very dear to my heart.

Valerie Kelso
Valerie has battled abuse and many other life-altering situations herself, and thus has firsthand knowledge of the feelings of loss, abandonment, anger, self-blame and unworthiness these women and young girls face daily. Feeling that no one understands the battle, questioning where to go, who to; hiding and pretending everything is okay while feeling lonely and aching deep inside.
Thankfully Valerie was able to escape her cycle of abuse and overcome the feelings of low self-worth, but she only did so with a lot of help from others, because of this, PLTF means that much more to her.
Knowing how well the body holds on to past hurts, she created a place just for women and girls who are in pain. She wanted a provide a place where they can feel free to talk, to release their emotions and problems without feeling judged.
The human body holds on to the emotional pain caused by abuse and trauma, and the soothing touch of therapeutic massage allows the body to relax, allowing our clients a positive way to release long held emotion from past trauma and life hurts. Therapeutic massage is beneficial in aiding women and girls in their healing process. Many of the women and young girls we see are also victims of physical abuse. Thus, one of our goals at Purple Light Touch Foundation is to help our clients learn that all touch isn't bad.
At PLTF, our primary aim is to assist women and young girls who are recovering from physical and emotional pain by providing them with the opportunity to rebuild trust through touch. We offer a comprehensive range of services, including computer classes, empowerment workshops, prayer, mentoring, self-care classes, and therapeutic massages.
Our belief is that, by allowing the Lord to use us, we can transform the lives of those we serve. After all, the Lord has not given us a spirit of fear. We envision creating an environment in which women and young girls feel free to express themselves, explore their potential, and develop a positive self-image. Imagine the impact of increasing a woman's self-esteem, and how much better she would feel. A happy wife, mother, or child can bring joy and peace to an entire household.
We need you to help us provide the resources we need to aid these women and young girls in their healing. Through your generous donation, you and others like you, continue to help Purple Light Touch make a difference to for these women. One day, the woman in pain could be your mother, sister, family member, co-worker or friend. Wouldn't you want to know that your generosity has made an impact in the lives of women and young girls going through a stormy time in their lives?
Remember, abuse has no color, age, gender, race or religion!
